Psalm 64

Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.

But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

 Escucha mi voz, oh Dios, en mi queja;
guarda mi vida del terror del enemigo.
 Escóndeme de los planes secretos de los malhechores,
del asalto de los obradores de iniquidad,
 que afilan su lengua como espada,
y lanzan palabras amargas como saeta,
 para herir en oculto al íntegro;
lo hieren repentinamente, y no temen.
Se aferran en propósitos malignos;
hablan de tender trampas en secreto,
y dicen: ¿Quién las verá?
 Traman injusticias, diciendo:
Estamos listos con una trama bien concebida;

pues los pensamientos del hombre y su corazón son profundos.
Pero Dios les disparará con saeta;
repentinamente serán heridos.
 Vuelven su lengua tropezadero contra sí mismos;
todos los que los vean menearán la cabeza.
 Entonces todos los hombres temerán,
y declararán la obra de Dios,
y considerarán sus hechos.
 El justo se alegrará en el SEÑOR, y en El se refugiará;
y todos los rectos de corazón se gloriarán.

Oh how this Psalm is my prayer today! We see it all around and as we do what the Holy Spirit leads us in, we gain enemies. The devil doesn’t want God’s Word to reach the masses. As they speak and devise evil, God will reward them with their own evil. If we stay enveloped in God, we have a shield that will send the arrows back to the one who shoots them. Our faith is our defense and offense. Thanks be to God and Jesus Christ who became flesh just for us.
