Job 3

Start Speaking any Language in 10 Days

At last Job spoke, and he cursed the day of his birth. He said:

“Let the day of my birth be erased,

and the night I was conceived.

Let that day be turned to darkness.

Let it be lost even to God on high,

and let no light shine on it.

Let the darkness and utter gloom claim that day for its own.

Let a black cloud overshadow it,

and let the darkness terrify it.

Let that night be blotted off the calendar,

never again to be counted among the days of the year,

never again to appear among the months.

Let that night be childless.

Let it have no joy.

Let those who are experts at cursing—

whose cursing could rouse Leviathan—

curse that day.

Let its morning stars remain dark.

Let it hope for light, but in vain;

may it never see the morning light.

Curse that day for failing to shut my mother’s womb,

for letting me be born to see all this trouble.

“Why wasn’t I born dead?

Why didn’t I die as I came from the womb?

Why was I laid on my mother’s lap?

Why did she nurse me at her breasts?

Had I died at birth, I would now be at peace.

I would be asleep and at rest.

I would rest with the world’s kings and prime ministers,

whose great buildings now lie in ruins.

I would rest with princes, rich in gold,

whose palaces were filled with silver.

Why wasn’t I buried like a stillborn child,

like a baby who never lives to see the light?

For in death the wicked cause no trouble,

and the weary are at rest.

Even captives are at ease in death,

with no guards to curse them.

Rich and poor are both there,

and the slave is free from his master.

“Oh, why give light to those in misery,

and life to those who are bitter?

They long for death, and it won’t come.

They search for death more eagerly than for hidden treasure.

They’re filled with joy when they finally die,

and rejoice when they find the grave.

Why is life given to those with no future,

those God has surrounded with difficulties?

I cannot eat for sighing;

my groans pour out like water.

What I always feared has happened to me.

What I dreaded has come true.

I have no peace, no quietness.

I have no rest; only trouble comes.”

con los reyes y con los consejeros de la tierra, que edifican para sí lugares desolados;

que esperan la muerte, y ella no llega, aunque la buscan más que a tesoros enterrados;

No he tenido paz, no me aseguré, ni estuve reposado; no obstante me vino turbación.

Should we as Christians be depressed? Should we ever wish we were not born? Should we wish that God would kill us?

Job did!

Job was a man of God, and he wished these things.

Why is it when we have deep despair that some people feel they need to tell us that we shouldn’t because we are not supposed to? Does it say in the Word of God that we shouldn’t feel deep despair? I have never seen it.

It is what we do with these feelings that matters. If we run out and steal to provide, we are wrong. If we try to commit suicide, that is against God’s Word. If we fall on our knees and cry out to our Father in Heaven and our Lord Jesus, Yes, that is what we must do.

God allows us to go through storms and to feel deep despair. We will then realize all we really have is Him. He is the only one who can help…and HE WILL.

If you are feeling deep despair over health, finances, family issues, or anything else, it is ok–tell God what you are feeling. You can have those feelings, but tell God and ask for Him to help.

The next time someone who thinks they know that God and the Bible says you shouldn’t feel these feelings, send them to the book of Job. Ask them if they think they are more of, or even as much as a man or woman of God as Job was. He felt the feelings and voiced it. God listened. Jobs friends tried to tell him the same things your friends may be trying to tell you.

Read the end of the book of Job. The friends were reprimanded by God and Job was blessed immeasurably.

It is ok–you can feel despair.

Job 31:2-6

2For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?

3Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?

4Does not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

5If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot has hurried to deceit;

6Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know my integrity.

Does God really owe us anything? Sometimes, we as people think He does. We owe God everything. I ask You my Father, to keep me and show me the path You desire for me. If I am misled or do wrong in Your eyes, please set me straight. I ask Your blessings my Lord, but most of all, let Your will be done.

Job 28:28

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Some wise words from Job. It is really so simple. We must fear God and depart from all evil. Thoughts, deeds and any evil thing must be out from us. God will bless us if we live as such. If we do slip up, if we repent, He will forgive, but we should always be striving to be perfect.

Job 23:13-17

13But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

14For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.

15Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.

16For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:

17Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.

15 Por tanto, me espantaría ante su presencia;
y el Todopoderoso el que me ha perturbado;
17 pero no me hacen callar las tinieblas,
ni la densa oscuridad que me cubre.

God does what He does for our own good. It may not seem so at that moment, but all in all is working together to bring all glory to Him. He loves us and His ways are not our ways. It is in these moments that we must just trust Him.

Job 33: 3-4

My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly. The spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty has given me life.

Oh that my words also will glorify God at all times. I pray that His knowledge and wisdom envelops me at all times. God is all to me. I hope He is also your everything!

Job 4:8-9

Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same. By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.

Evil people will get their just reward. It is inevitable! We must put them in God’s hands and allow Him to be the judge and jury.

Job 1:20-21

Then Job arose, and tore his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshiped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there: the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

Job understood something here that we all need to understand; God will and does do what is best to complete His will. We may not understand, but there is a good reason. God’s plan will reign over any plans we may have. If God deems fit that everything we have be taken away, He knows best. If God gives us material blessings, it too, is in His plan. No matter the circumstances, He is our Father and knows best. All praise to God!

Job 31:6

Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know my integrity.

Do each of us feel comfortable saying these words? How are our morals and integrity? Will the scales read in our favor when God weighs us? We cannot count the world’s standards of integrity; God’s standards are much different. I pray this also. Please weigh me Father and I ask your forgiveness for the wrongs I have done you.

Job 2:7-10

7So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. 8And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.

9Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. 10But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Maldice a Dios y muérete.

No matter who or what comes our way, if we stand strong in the promises of God, we will be blessed. We see how not only Satan came at Job, but his own wife did also. By standing strong in God, Job was very blessed in the end. Don’t give up or give in. There are blessings coming!

Job 42:1-2

Then Job answered the LORD, and said, I know that you can do everything, and that no thought can be withheld from you.

Why is it that sometimes we think we can hide our actions or thoughts from God? Job understood that God knows all; we should understand that too. Before we think, act, write or speak, we should consider that God is right there knowing all.
