So the Twelve called the whole group of disciples together and said, “It is not desirable for us to neglect messages from God in order to wait on tables. Therefore, brothers, appoint seven men among you who have a good reputation, who are full of the Spirit and wisdom, and we’ll put them in charge of this work. Then we’ll devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
God calls us all to many ministries. As the Word says in the last sentence, we too must devout ourselves to prayer and ministry. Even though I have many things going on, I felt the Holy Spirit telling me to post this morning. That small voice said to just open my Bible and the Word would come. Yes, when I read this scripture again, I completely understand. We have a Powerful and Amazing God. Praise Jesus!
1In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. 3Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
Everything we do, say, write, or think will be out in the open. All will be known, but do we consider that? We should.
Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Allow little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
If we all could be as little children with their awe of God, wouldn’t it be wonderful? Jesus spoke how heaven would be full of children. Think about all the children killed through abortion, abuse and other atrocities. Heaven has many children and they are all before the throne seeking justice. It is so sad that any would be ok with killing children in any way. God’s justice will come and for those who support the abuse or killing of children in any way, you need to seek forgiveness.
For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
We see this all over the church now days. People are following people and not Jesus, nor reading and heeding the Word. Through study of God’s Word and prayer we can walk the path that God wants for us. Don’t follow man, follow God!
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man who was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Teacher, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
I have heard different teachings saying that because of infirmities, diseases or even natural disasters that the people that had harm had sinned or done wrong. Jesus teaches us something different right here; these things may happen just to manifest God and to have others lose their unbelief when they see God’s mighty power. When someone is able to worship God even though they have a life threatening disease or just lost their home and possessions others see it and God is magnified. I remember when an earthquake ravaged Haiti and there were some who said that God did it to them because of evilness. Wow, I wonder how those who said such things can have the gall to speak for God? I have watched many people turn their hearts and lives to Jesus because of disasters such as that one. We all need to think before we speak; we all need to pray before we speak. I have spoke out of line before and later on the guilt hits. Father, please forgive those of us who have used our tongues before our brains. Let Your will be done and let Jesus’ Light shine in this world. Please; in Jesus’ name I ask. Amen.
