Nehemiah 5:1-13

1Now there arose a great outcry of the people and of their wives against their Jewish brothers. 2For there were those who said, “With our sons and our daughters, we are many. So let us get grain, that we may eat and keep alive.” 3There were also those who said, “We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards, and our houses to get grain because of the famine.” 4And there were those who said, “We have borrowed money for the king’s tax on our fields and our vineyards. 5Now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children are as their children. Yet we are forcing our sons and our daughters to be slaves, and some of our daughters have already been enslaved, but it is not in our power to help it, for other men have our fields and our vineyards.”

6I was very angry when I heard their outcry and these words. 7I took counsel with myself, and I brought charges against the nobles and the officials. I said to them, “You are exacting interest, each from his brother.” And I held a great assembly against them 8and said to them, “We, as far as we are able, have bought back our Jewish brothers who have been sold to the nations, but you even sell your brothers that they may be sold to us!” They were silent and could not find a word to say. 9So I said, “The thing that you are doing is not good. Ought you not to walk in the fear of our God to prevent the taunts of the nations our enemies? 10Moreover, I and my brothers and my servants are lending them money and grain. Let us abandon this exacting of interest. 11Return to them this very day their fields, their vineyards, their olive orchards, and their houses, and the percentage of money, grain, wine, and oil that you have been exacting from them.” 12Then they said, “We will restore these and require nothing from them. We will do as you say.” And I called the priests and made them swear to do as they had promised. 13I also shook out the fold of my garment and said, “So may God shake out every man from his house and from his labor who does not keep this promise. So may he be shaken out and emptied.” And all the assembly said “Amen” and praised the Lord. And the people did as they had promised.

When we as, humans and as Christians, see a wrong being committed against someone who doesn’t deserve it, do we stand by and just allow those who in superior positions to do it?

One of God’s prophets stood ground for the poor and downtrodden. We can learn a lot from Nehemiah.

The fact is: if we know of a wrong being done to another human, and we stand idly by, we are just as guilty of the offense.

If we know of wrongs, we are sinning if we do not take a stand against those wrongs.

This is why I salute all who stand strong on the abortion debate.

PLAIN AND SIMPLE: ABORTION IS MURDER!

Psalm 12

1 Save, O Lord, for the godly one is gone;
for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.
2 Everyone utters lies to his neighbor;
with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

3 May the Lord cut off all flattering lips,
the tongue that makes great boasts,
4 those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail,
our lips are with us; who is master over us?”

5 “Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan,
I will now arise,” says the Lord;
“I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”
6 The words of the Lord are pure words,
like silver refined in a furnace on the ground,
purified seven times.

7 You, O Lord, will keep them;
you will guard us from this generation forever.
8 On every side the wicked prowl,
as vileness is exalted among the children of man.

I cry this same prayer today Lord. I cry for the innocent people in Syria that have so much chaos around them. I cry out Oh Lord, that you would awaken the people who are walking in sin and wickedness, that You would put items or people in their path that would help them repent and turn to You. God, You are so Great and Mighty. Your will be done. Yes, only Your will be done.

Isaiah 25:4

For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

God is over all; He is Omnipotent. All we need to do is trust. He will not let His people fall. Put your faith and trust in God and Jesus and you can and will stand through all.

Proverbs 22:1-2

1A good name is to be more desired than great wealth,
            Favor is better than silver and gold.

      2The rich and the poor have a common bond,
            The LORD is the maker of them all.

A rich or famous person is no better in God’s eyes than a poor person. God cares and loves all of us the same. We are all His creation and He has plans for every one. He wants us all to know and trust Him. The rich can learn from the poor, and the poor can learn from the rich; the key to that is, only if God is in the middle.

Isaiah 66:1-2

Thus says the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that you build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things has my hand made, and all those things have been, says the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word.

Who are we to tell God how to do things? We were made for His pleasure, not the other way around. If we bow before Him and enter His gates with humbleness, He will listen to our request. If we try to tell Him how to do it, whoa to us. Father, please forgive me for the times I have been a know-it-all, I ask that Your will and only Your will be done Lord. Thank You Father for all you are and have done. In Jesus’ name.

James 2:1-4

1My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. 2For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

There is no man that is higher than God. No matter poor or rich, skinny or obese; all are just men and we are to not put one ahead of another. We all put our pants on the same way and we all are sinners. I will listen and heed God before any man or woman. I hope we all will.

Proverbs 28:3

A poor man that oppresses the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaves no food.

Wouldn’t it be good if all people worked together? I doubt anyone would be poor if it was so and this proverb would be nullified. Let’s all listen to the Holy Spirit and be led by Him. Jesus is coming soon!
