Nevertheless, the Lord was unwilling to destroy David’s dynasty because of the covenant that he had made with David, especially since he had promised to give him and to his sons the reigning presence of an heir forever.
God is true with all of His promises. He wants us all to worship and adore Him, but there are some who go the other path. There are consequences, but He gave us the perfect light in His Son…Jesus Christ. All honor and glory to our God!
11But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
It is only through Jesus Christ that we can come to eternity. There is no other way! Some think that by being “good” or following paths of what seems good will get them there. No way! Jesus died and His blood was spilled for all of us to receive redemption. All we have to do is accept that fact and accept Jesus as our Savior. Just because you are doing “good” things doesn’t guarantee you a place in heaven.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then are you Abraham’s descendants, and heirs according to the promise.
God doesn’t look at our outward appearance, He looks at our inner appearance. Are we truly believing in Him and His promises? Do we believe in Jesus? This is the full measure. We don’t need other people to judge us, because we judge ourselves. The promises of our Lord are true and righteous. Will we stand on them or go the way of the world? It is a decision we must each make; I pray that yours is the correct one.
Let us therefore fear, lest, although a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
There are many who go to church and read the Word that treat it as reading a novel. “Oh, it’s a good book with lots of good things,” but that is all; no faith! I pray that our faith stands strong! That we will not let outer forces control our beliefs and that we will walk through the temptations and such following the path of our Savior, Jesus Christ! Stand strong friends!
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their hearts, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
God seeks all of us, ALL! He is calling and all we need to do is call back. If we just ask Him, He will freely give us the free gift of everlasting life and eternal love. The Holy Spirit will live within us and will help guide us along that perfect path unto the Kingdom. By doing so, your children and their children will see and watch and will seek His everlasting life also. Do it for them. Your love for them asks for it. Praise our Holy God!
Let us therefore fear, lest, although a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we who have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Being in Christ’s path does not mean stress and division. If we are in Him, we will be in rest and peace. It all comes down to that very simple but complex to some word called faith. Instead of trying to do God’s work on our own, we let the Holy Spirit do it using us; not us using the Holy Spirit. It’s all about faith–pure and simple!
For if they who are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect
Essentially, this scripture says that if we have to follow every tittle and slash of the law, like a list, God would have been a liar. God doesn’t lie. Grace is our only hope. None of us can follow the law. We are all headed to a eternal fire unless we do one thing. What is that? Follow the 5th commandment? Maybe the 8th? Nope, we just accept the free gift; we reach out our hands and our hearts and take the free gift that our Father gives us in His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus hung on a cross for hours; he was beaten and bloody; trampled and scorned. Most importantly, 3 days later, He arose from the grave and showed us we too can arise from the grave. Eternity will be paradise if we just accept God’s very special gift to us; the gift of grace through Jesus Christ our Lord.
