2 Samuel 10:1-4

1And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead. 2Then said David, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon. 3And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it? 4Wherefore Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.

If we really are in prayer and worship to God, He will lead us to who our friends and who our enemies are. Hanun was not in prayer and assumed that David was his enemy. David meant goodwill and Hanun took it as an attack. How many times do we hurt the ones who are trying to help us? If we bring our worries and fears to God, He will dispel them and guide us in His perfect will. I have hurt those who have tried to help me and I have been hurt when trying to help. Let’s pray and consider before jumping to conclusions.

Ephesians 6:5-8

5Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 8Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

No matter if what are employers or government officials are saying, whether we think wrong or right, we need to obey their laws. It is they that will have to answer to God if they are wrong. So many Christians think it is ok to break laws if they don’t seem to line up to God’s word. The Bible teaches us differently here. Let God’s Spirit guide you and you will know the truth.
